Transform your garden with Cobra Climbing Bean Seeds, a high-quality variety prized for its vigorous growth, high yields, and delicious flavour. These beans are a staple for gardeners seeking a vertical crop that saves space while delivering tender, stringless pods perfect for fresh use or freezing. The climbing variety is ideal for trellises, poles or fences to maximise garden space and support plants. Once harvested, the beans are perfect for stir-fries, boiling, steaming or can be frozen for later use.

Cobra plants produce long, round pods that are bright green in colour and grow to approximately 20cm length x 7-9mm width. Sow indoors from April then move outside in late May or early June after the last frost. Harvest from July onwards.

Each packet contains approximately 20 seeds.

SOW: Climbing French Cobra bean seeds are best sown in spring once the soil has warmed up—typically from April to early May in temperate regions. You can sow them directly into the garden or start them in modules to transplant after the last frost.

HARVEST: Expect your crop to be ready for harvesting about 8–10 weeks after sowing, usually from mid-summer through early autumn (around July to August).

LIGHT: They thrive in full sun, so choose a spot that receives at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily for optimal growth and pod production.

WATERING: Keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged. Regular watering—about once a week, with additional water during hot or dry spells—will help support healthy growth, especially during flowering and pod formation.

SOIL: For climbing French Cobra bean seeds, choose a fertile, well-drained loamy soil enriched with plenty of organic matter.

PLANT SIZE: With proper support (such as poles or a trellis), these climbing beans can reach heights of approximately 1.2 to 1.5meters.

TOP TIP: To look after your plants, ensure they are watered regularly, especially whilst flowering. Do not worry if you spot green shield bugs on your plants, they are harmless and will not cause any damage to your crop.

DISH TO TRY: A delightful dish to showcase climbing French beans is French Bean Almondine. This classic French preparation emphasizes the beans’ tender crunch with a nutty, lemony finish.
