Experience the joy of growing your own delicious, bite-sized tomatoes with our Gardener's Delight Cherry Tomato Seeds. This classic, heirloom variety is a favourite among gardeners for its prolific yields and exceptional taste. Producing clusters of bright red, sweet, and juicy fruits, Gardener’s Delight is perfect for snacking, salads, and cooking. These indeterminate plants grow vigorously, providing a continuous harvest all season long.
Tomatoes need fertile, well drained soil and work best grown in a greenhouse or outside in a sunny, sheltered spot in large pots or grow bags. Sow indoors from February to April, harvest from July to October.
SOW: Start your seeds indoors about 6–8 weeks before the last expected frost—typically in February or early March (depending on your region). Transplant your seedlings outdoors once the danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed up (usually mid-April to May).
HARVEST: Cherry tomatoes generally take about 55–70 days from transplanting to reach maturity. Expect your first harvest in mid to late summer, with a continuous crop into early autumn.
LIGHT: These tomatoes need full sun—aim for at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily to encourage healthy growth and abundant fruiting.
WATERING: Keep the soil evenly moist by watering deeply once or twice a week. During hot or dry spells, you might need to water more frequently but avoid waterlogging by ensuring good drainage.
SOIL: Plant in a rich, well-draining loamy or sandy-loam soil, amended with plenty of organic matter (compost or well-rotted manure).
PLANT SIZE: Plant Growth: Mature plants typically reach about 60–90 cm tall and tend to be bushy, especially if supported with a trellis or cage. Fruit Size: The cherry tomatoes themselves are small, usually around 2–3 cm in diameter, perfect for snacking.
TOP TIP: Pick tomatoes before the first frost. If your tomatoes are still green at this point, leave on a warm windowsill for them to ripen there.
DISH TO TRY: Cherry Tomato Bruschetta – delicious!
