Enhance your garden's beauty and support vital pollinators with the Throw to Grow Bee Mix. Developed in collaboration with Cambridge University, this scientifically balanced blend of annual and perennial flowers is designed to attract bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects, fostering a thriving ecosystem in your outdoor space.
Throw to Grow seeds are best sown between the end of April to beginning of June, they grow best when the soil is sufficiently warm and moist for the seeds to germinate well. Ideal for new gardeners and experts alike, these seeds require significantly less maintenance than bedding flowers with fertilisers and pest control not necessary and a low water demand.
SOW: Sow these wildflower seeds directly into your prepared garden bed once the soil is workable. In most regions, early spring (March–April) is ideal, though in milder areas you may also sow in autumn for winter stratification.
LIGHT: These bee-friendly flowers flourish in full sun, requiring at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily to produce abundant blooms that attract pollinators.
WATERING: Keep the soil evenly moist by lightly watering every 2–3 days until seedlings emerge. Once established, water deeply about once a week, or more during prolonged dry spells, while avoiding waterlogging.
SOIL: Plant in a well-draining, fertile, sandy-loam or loamy soil. Enrich with organic matter (like compost) to improve soil structure and fertility while ensuring excellent drainage.
PLANT SIZE: As a mixed wildflower blend, plant heights will vary depending on the species included, generally ranging from around 15 cm for ground cover types up to 60 cm for taller flowering species. The overall effect is a diverse, vibrant display that supports and attracts bees.
POLLINATOR-FRIENDLY: Specifically formulated to attract and support bees, butterflies, and other pollinating insects.
ANNUAL AND PERENNIAL VARIETIES: Provides immediate blooms in the first year and recurring beauty in subsequent seasons.
LOW MAINTENANCE: Requires minimal care once established, reducing the need for fertilisers and pesticides.
